This policy explains how to ask Makemystrip for help with a flight reservation arranged through our agency. Cancelling travel, changing a ticket, and obtaining a refund are related but separate actions. The outcome depends on the ticket, the reason for the request, and applicable passenger protections.
A voluntary change of plans is different from a carrier cancellation or qualifying significant itinerary change. Supplier rules and disclosed service conditions apply subject to mandatory law; a restricted fare does not remove a statutory entitlement.
1. How to request a change or cancellation
Sending an inquiry does not prove that an action has been completed. Confirm the actual status, especially close to departure. For urgent operational instructions, follow the operating airline's guidance and applicable deadlines.
- Contact Makemystrip using the phone or email below. If another business issued your ticket, contact that issuer for the relevant booking process.
- Give your booking reference, passenger name, travel dates, and the flights affected.
- Explain the request and, for changes, the preferred new dates or route.
- Review the available option, fare difference, permitted charges, and effect on other flights before authorizing action.
- Keep written confirmation of the cancellation or exchange and any separate refund or credit reference.
2. When you choose not to travel
If the booked flight operates and you decide to cancel, the fare conditions normally determine the available voluntary options. A restricted ticket may have no voluntary cash refund, a partial value, or a credit subject to conditions. Ask for an itemized explanation before deciding.
Unused taxes, selected extras, and a separately agreed assistance fee can have different treatment. Do not assume that every component is returned or that every component is non-refundable. The specific purchase and applicable law must be considered.
3. New dates, routing, and name corrections
A replacement flight depends on inventory at the time the change is completed. The cost can include a fare difference and a permitted supplier fee, as well as an agency fee that you separately agree to. A proposed quote does not hold the new itinerary indefinitely.
A spelling correction is different from transferring a ticket to another person. Restrictions and supporting information may apply. Confirm approval before buying a replacement ticket or assuming that the original ticket has been changed.
4. Airline cancellations and significant changes
If the carrier cancels or significantly changes a covered journey, you may have refund rights independent of the fare's voluntary restrictions. Review the original itinerary and the carrier's notice before choosing whether to accept a new flight, credit, or the refund available to you.
Where money back is legally due, purchasing another ticket or accepting a voucher is not a condition for that refund. Our Refund Policy explains the payment responsibility and links to official passenger guidance.
5. Requests shortly after booking
Do not assume that a travel-agency booking has an automatic 24-hour free-cancellation period. The U.S. airline 24-hour requirement does not itself apply to third-party agency bookings. Any equivalent option must be established for the particular ticket.
Contact us promptly about an error or changed plans and ask whether issuance is complete, which deadline applies, and what amount is refundable. A ticket-specific cancellation option should be confirmed before it is relied upon.
6. Missed flights, partial use, and connected journeys
A no-show or skipped flight can affect remaining flights in the same reservation. Some airline rules cancel onward or return sectors after an unused earlier segment. Review the complete itinerary before changing only one part.
A partially used ticket is not necessarily refundable in proportion to the segments remaining. A fare calculation, travel-credit condition, or legal protection may affect the residual amount. Keep the records for each exchange or cancellation.
7. Separate fees, credits, and follow-up
Any agency fee must be identified separately from an airline penalty, with its amount and conditions disclosed before authorization. This policy does not create an undisclosed cancellation deduction. A service not provided must be reviewed under the agreed terms and applicable remedies.
A travel credit is future-use value, not a cash refund. Check the eligible traveler, expiry, permitted uses, and any fare difference before choosing it. Ask for the responsible party, action taken, and applicable next step when following up. Contacting the agency does not extend another provider's deadline.
